The advertising world on TV is designed to tap into human emotions to guide the decision making process. When it comes to our pets, notice the types of foods they include in these commercials to support the choices we make. (30 second commercial)
We see:
-
Real Meat
-
Whole vegetables
-
Real Fruit
Those caring to provide the best quality of life for their pets recognize the importance of quality food and the role it plays in sustaining quality muscle, quality joint support, quality immune function and quality “coat” appearance. In other words, QUALITY HEALTH.
The advertising world on TV is designed to tap into human emotions to guide the decision making process for our families as well. When it comes to our CHILDREN, notice the QUALITY of foods they include in these commercials to support the choices we make. (16 second commercial)
Something is seriously wrong when advertisers recognize we are willing to feed our pets fresh steak/beef, carrots, and tomatoes and our children fried grilled patties, fried potatoes and white bread buns.
When animals eat quality food advertised on TV in PROPER QUANTITIES, how often do we see them suffering from Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes? When children eat foods advertised on TV, how often do we see them suffering from Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes?
Maybe it’s time we begin proving to our children we care about their quality of health as much as we do our family pets?
Very thought provoking Jonathan 🙂
I made mostly of the food for my kids, while they were kids. In the beginning because of allergies, but later we found out, how delicious the healthy food could be served.

I’ll bet the your children grew up to experience better health than most of their peers as well. I wish more parents were willing to accept the responsibilities necessary to give their children a better chance to live a healthy life.

They are both living a good life, are not overweight and appreciate good home cooked meals and bread.

Great post, Dr.J. Yep, we choose healthy food for our pets, and they happily eat it. They aren’t swayed by TV & fast food commercials. And neither are we! 🍁🍂 Christine

Your family obviously lives a lifestyle that advertisers and marketeers will never influence in an unhealthy manner. Hopefully people learn from the comments you so graciously share with all of us.

Wow, i never thought of that. thays eye opening! some people treat their pets like children. i can see where the double standard comes into play. thanks for sharing!!

Many treat their pets BETTER than they treat their children when it comes to their nutritional needs!

They may advertise healthy food but due to my great mistrust of any advertisers/food manufacturers, I even make my dogs food…But I agree totally that advertisers have hit on a winner and it works for all of them…..Wake up people you need to start asking questions, reading and not just blindly believing … Great post-Dr J and very true I hope that if even 5 people take heed it is a small , very small victory but a victory for commonsense nonetheless.

This was another “wake up call” attempt. Sometimes people get so “fixed” in their ways, they need to be confronted with reality!

Well, I think you did that!

I have both – a pet and kids and I give them the same food. Just this morning I introduced scrambled eggs to pet and she loved it, can food or etc is a treat for her and for us hardly ever any cans cause we got all those veggies/fruits fresh and all

I was trying to “nudge” people a little by sharing these videos. Sometimes people need reminding about patterns of behavior they take for granted.

Excellent, excellent, excellent !!! Wow ! this is good !!!
Now imagine if humans were fed nutritious foods like that, their tails would be wagging too !

If all it took were tails on children to improve their quality of health, I’d be at the front of the line helping with the sewing!!!
Hopefully I can convince parents (who I truly believe love their children) their well intentioned enabling behaviors are causing their children irreparable harm. They must begin to see and face this reality in order to reverse this dangerous path.

This is quite shocking really, and hopefully a wake-up call for somme! 🙂

I wish more people were shocked. I think most people are uncomfortable being confronted with this reality. The goal is NOT to shame people, but rather, help them identify serious problems while offering solutions that improve their family’s over all health.

I agree, it is better to help by educating people rather than shaming them and offering healthy alternatives 🙂

Such a great point! We are so careful with what we feed our pets, and sometimes are not as careful with our own family. Love this post!

Commercials are designed to generate spending. These commercials are proof that consumers are more concerned about purchasing quality foods for their pets than the quality of food they spend on their families. It’s a sad fact, but real, non the less!

I’d been meaning to get to this post ever since seeing the title in my reader several days ago. You make such an excellent point with this comparison between animal and people food commercials. You are so right, they go for the emotional connection and advertisers know we will do anything for our pets to live longer. We want the same for our kids too, right? You’d think so….

EXACTLY! I know that parents mean well, however, they need a wake up call to understand the damaging consequences their children face as a result of the food choices they provide them.

I don’t know how I missed this post but I’m glad to see it. I admit there was a time my dogs got more natural health care than i gave myself. After one of my dogs died of cancer I researched how it could have happened and found it might have been the food I fed her. I might have been responsible for my dog dying too soon. My quest for natural pet care shaped my healthy lifestyle for myself and family. It’s been 14 years since my sweet dog died and now my fur kids and human family are living healthy and happy with real foods.

Your beloved pet helped teach you what was necessary to protect the many other pets you’ve had since. I’m sure they enjoy a better quality of life (and health) than most.
