BECOMING A HERO ON MEMORIAL DAY

Publication10CROPPED400

Although we traditionally honor the brave men and women that have fought to protect our rights for freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, I have begun wondering if these heroes wouldn’t want (and even expect) us to strive to become heroes in our own right?

What better way to honor their sacrifices than to achieve the status of “HERO” in the eyes of peers, colleagues, community and family.

What does it take to achieve this laudable honor? It takes dedication, sacrifice, commitment, persistence and most importantly, love and compassion for ALL LIFE. These last two words (love & compassion) are the catalyst that drives the human soul to exceed boundaries limited by fear and denial. When love and compassion consume our emotions, they provide an abundant reserve of strength necessary to pursue challenges we might not necessarily pursue under typical conditions.

This, in turn, produces a level of commitment beyond mere concern; it produces a level where one willingly sacrifices personal gain to witness the gain of others. This pursuit is motivated by ethics, honor, moral concerns, and a heart intent on fulfilling this PURPOSE.

When (and if) a person reaches this pinnacle in life, they have earned the title HERO. Interestingly, these people are the LAST to recognize their own accomplishments. They become so focused on their mission to support the needs of others, they lose perspective on just how special and needed they are in life.

Heroes, in most cases, do not set out to become heroes. For some, it becomes a means of self survival (ex war battles.) For others it becomes a CHOICE to stand arm in arm with people of similar character opposing imposed dissonance on a society ever drifting toward a growing state of chaos.

Heroes are usually humble. They do not ask (or even want) to be recognized publicly. They do, however, hope their efforts create better SELF AWARENESS to ensure a better future for our generations to come.

.

WHY NOT HONOR A HERO ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY BY FOLLOWING THEIR LEAD TO POTENTIALLY BECOMING ONE YOURSELF, TOMORROW?
