POISON

Poison is defined as:

“a substance that is capable of causing the illness or death of a living organism when introduced or absorbed.”

What if research found that fast food consumption four or more times a week increased the risk of DEATH from heart disease by:

80%?

What if research found that fast food consumption two or more times a week increased the risk of DEATH from heart disease by:

50%?

What if research also found that fast food consumption two to more times a week increased the risk of DIABETES by:

27%?

(REFERENCE: Western-Style Fast Food Intake and Cardiometabolic Risk)

.

WOULD THESE STATISTICS SATISFY THE DEFINITION OF:

POISON?

“a substance that is CAPABLE of causing the ILLNESS or DEATH of a living organism…”

.

IS TASTE WORTH DYING FOR?

    1. You’re living proof that one can experience joyous living “depriving” oneself fast food.

    1. Don’t worry about “shaming” oneself; make a better decision and choice next time. This is the first step in gaining better CONTROL over one’s life.

      1. Ok, today I ended up there again. I got Chili, not a sandwich or two. Lower carbs, but what’s the difference in homemade and Wendy’s chili? My son is yelling at me because I don’t eat enough calories per day. For me it is cutting down the carbs that matters. I sort of understand why he is concerned I am not getting enough calories, but I am suffering from no appetite. He is the one that makes sure I at least get something in my stomach. He would rather I eat wrong then not eat at all.

        1. Maybe you should consider eating three meals/day. Whether you’re hungry or not, your body needs fuel to burn. Eating at home also removes temptation and gives you CONTROL over any preparation.

          1. My son says the same thing. So does my doctor. I have no appetite. I eat because my son pressures me to and I eat usually 1 larger meal because I am not really interested in eating. Maybe once I am off all these drugs I will feel better and have an appetite.

                1. It is not for me to judge. If you are satisfied with your life, you have discovered the right path. If you’re not satisfied, it is up to you to decide how important finding and LIVING the right lifestyle is. I simply help people identify problems they might not recognize and offer ideas to help redirect their thinking and actions.

                2. Satisfied no I wouldn’t say that. I hope getting off all this medicine will make me feel more alive. Psychiatric medicine is basically there to make us dead inside so that we don’t act out. I choose, if God agrees, to go back to the real me, not the medicated one. I am going to try and be what I can be without those drugs controlling me. I now am getting my real emotions back. It means crying more, but I am more real.

By the way I don’t think you are judging. I listen to other’s suggestions and some I can implement and soon I hope I become the real me and one who cares about herself like she cares about others. Thank you for all your help whether it is a suggestion I can follow at this point or not. Don’t give up on me yet. I am in an awkward place still.

                3. I don’t believe in giving up on people. Life is not easy even in the best of circumstances. Everyone experiences difficulties at some point in their life. I appreciate the gift of “LIFE” and the “VALUE” in people. I am thankful to have spent a career helping others. I am also thankful and aware of the help I’ve received (as well) in return.

  3. The documentary Supersize Me is the perfect example of the study on a 32 years old male who ate nothing by Mac Donald menu for 30 days. After the study the man on the documentary gained 24 pounds in 30 days, 13% body mass, high cholesterol levels, and had to have a stomach surgery. It took 14 months on a strict vegan diet to lose that weight. Just unbelievable😒

    1. Most people refuse to believe “it will happen to them.” This refusal is based on an emotional denial, not a conscious plan of action to prevent ill health.

  5. Nice post! I think you ask the absolutely critical question – Is taste worth dying for? How many decisions do people make solely on the basis of – it tastes good? If we would only take one further step and realize that everything we eat becomes a part of us. I know that works for me.

    1. Great point Tony. One has to VALUE one’s own life to accept the concept “everything we eat becomes a part of us.” You have learned this and continue to reap the benefits from this lesson. Finding solutions (other than PAIN and DISEASE) to help people overcome their resistance to change is a personal choice each of us must make.

Some say well we all gonna die someway anyways, but I wouldn’t want to precipitate mine by indulging in some crap or junk. Thanks for this post

    1. You are a smart woman. It is NOT cool to intentionally consume foods (regularly) that destroy one’s quality of health and life. We will die someday, however, it is how we choose to LIVE that defines each of us.
Children aren’t “worldly” enough to truly understand the harms of certain foods. It becomes the responsibility of the parent to provide the BEST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY for the child to grow up healthy. You are certainly, doing your part. I commend you.

    1. You’re a smart man. People truly do not understand just how dangerous this food can be on many different levels:
      1. can lead to sugar addiction
      2. can lead to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, etc…
      3.can weaken immune function
      4. can cause systemic inflammation
      5. …and the list goes on…

    1. Some would say you’re exaggerating…I’m NOT one of those. People don’t associate the dangers because they can’t SEE or FEEL it as it is developing. People rely on tangible sensory experiences when they approach behavior. A good example that gets people thinking is when I use the example of X-rays. I ask people how dangerous would it be to have x-rays taken every day for one year? They say, “VERY.” I ask, how do you know? Can you FEEL any harm when an x-ray is taken? They answer, “NO.” I then follow with,”just like you can’t FEEL the harm fast food causes your health!” You can see in their eyes a clearer understanding of the concept of fast food and serious danger.

    1. Now if we can get people to substitute the word POISON, it reinforces this message within the mind. This is one way to take some of the “joy” out of fast food!

    1. So many people equate pharmaceuticals with “HEALTH” and “HEALING.” They are in NO WAY HEALTHY and in most chronic conditions offer no form of HEALING. Pharmaceuticals are best utilized when the body is so far out of BALANCE, establishing stability becomes the initial goal. When achieved, finding HEALTHFUL solutions is essential to restoring quality health.

People need to understand a new reality. If one is taking ongoing prescription medication, one has a health imbalance. A person with a health imbalance is NOT HEALTHY. Since these drugs do not aim to overcome these imbalances, they keep the patient in a state of chronic disease.

If people looked at pharmaceuticals from this perspective, they would better understand their role and be less inclined to settle on a reduced state of health.

  17. You’re so right! This is exactly why I’m working on getting off of all this shit, all these doctor’s have prescribed. It’s kind of like, here take this and get the hell out of my office. An easy fix, in there opinion……that’s what it feels like to me, anyway. I know all these chemicals mixed together especially, cannot be good for anyone, for anything. Common sense…………………………….:)
