What does holding your nose have to do with improving the health and quality of your life? It will simply hide the “emotional distasteful SMELL” that prevents people from following new paths that provide desired outcomes. More and more people are walking in circles that limit the boundaries of their vision to see new effective pathways that lead to improving the health and quality of their lives. In this article, I will share a REALISTIC EFFECTIVE PATHWAY that is capable of helping you SEE beyond your current circle that may confine you.
One of the factors that makes this EFFECTIVE PATHWAY so compliable is that it requires minimal initial changes to one’s life. This pathway simply requires altering the order of scheduled events of the day while SLOWLY incorporating ESSENTIAL NEEDS. It requires the individual to start with (and ACCOMPLISH) the LEAST enjoyable activities or events FIRST! This process helps us achieve ESSENTIAL NEEDS and provides us room to satisfy EMOTIONAL WANTS based on a formula of SUCCESS. The more efficient we become at completing “UNENJOYABLE TASKS,” the more time we create to pursue “ENJOYABLE WANTS“! It helps us overcome procrastination. Pursuing activities or events IN THIS ORDER provides the opportunity to end each day satisfying emotional wants (if chosen!) Just make sure the essential needs list isn’t UNREALISTICALLY LONG. This will simply delay gratification reducing compliance with the plan of action.
An example may look as follows:
Instead of starting the day with a cup of coffee and a bagel or donut, start the day with a glass of water and 10-20 minutes of light to moderate walking. After the walk, have a healthy breakfast (ex. eggs and vegetables and coffee or tea OR plain greek yogurt, walnuts, mixed berries, a teaspoon of raw honey and coffee or tea.) Go take a shower after breakfast. If you still want the bagel or donut after getting dressed, EAT IT. In most cases, the appetite for the bagel or donut will dissipate. This method REALISTICALLY approaches life in a healthier manner without depriving oneself the right to indulge. It also starts the day with “exercise” that can be expanded as one acclimates to it.
Apply this same concept to the work day. Get the tasks you dislike out of the way FIRST, so you can end the work day doing work assignments you ENJOY. Wait until you see the change in ATTITUDE you will experience at work and at home. You’ll be less tired, less stressed and more prepared to ENJOY the evening!
Creating a healthier and happier life requires some thought and EFFORT. It requires changing behaviors you’re accustomed to (even if they’re self destructive) without necessarily being completely dissatisfied with your life. Just remember, NOT BEING TOTALLY DISSATISFIED is not the same thing as BEING SATISFIED. Most people can not PASSIVELY “sit by” and achieve the type of life they truly desire. This PLAN OF ACTION simplifies the PROCESS by ONLY changing the ORDER OF EVENTS (to minimize disruption in one’s daily activities) while very slowly adding essential components (like exercise) necessary to improve one’s health and quality of life.
