Be honest, you saw the title and SMIRKED! Am I right? If I was in your shoes, I probably would have smirked too! In reality, many of the medicinal products we’re prescribed by our doctors are synthetic chemicals designed to COPY the physiological benefits naturally produced by plants . Since the law doesn’t permit the patenting of nature, medicine turned to synthesizing chemicals in an attempt to reproduce nature’s natural healing.
One such example is the drug ARICEPT used with patients suffering early to moderate ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE. Dr. Michael Gregor provides a concise and EASY TO UNDERSTAND scientifically based explanation in 90 seconds showing that SAFFRON FLOWERS are as effective at treating patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease as the prescription drug ARICEPT. The two biggest differences are (a) NO SIDE EFFECTS are seen in patients provided the saffron treatment, (b) SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED COST for this plant based treatment.
Amazing. Just amazing. Thanks again for the valuable info Doc.

Many people seem to be surprised that SCIENCE offers tangible evidence for natural treatments correcting health issues. Our healthcare system has intentionally created tunnel vision among our population to promulgate a pharmaceutical approach to ALL health problems. This is a smart approach to maintaining an ongoing successful business model. It is not, however, in the population’s best interest. Creating awareness in the public’s eye to this reality is challenging. They want to believe our doctors have their best health interests in mind. In my opinion, “they do!” The word DOCTOR, however, doesn’t only apply to medical practitioners. Include a combination of chiropractic physicians, medical physicians, naturopathic physicians, homeopathic physicians, osteopathic physicians, ayurvedic physicians, eastern medicine physicians, etc… and now the consumer will have a RANGE of OPTIONS to restoring GOOD HEALTH to the body.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for sharing your comment.

Nature is our saving grace if you ask me! π I love learning about things like this! Thanks for posting! π

I like learning about things like this as well. We are not taught as a culture to look to nature for healing. We are taught to run to our pharmacy. I believe in pharmaceutical intervention when appropriate. Many think I oppose all drugs. This is FAR from true. I simply do not understand why we would use potentially harmful synthetic chemicals as a FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE when safer, less expensive and healthier options are available. Some would claim they didn’t know. I would ask these people, “now that you know natural options are available, will you research these options to make them available in the future?” Do you think most people would say, “most definitely” or “maybe, if I have the time?”

Sadly I think they will pick maybe, if they’ve the time….I think that just as the food we need to survive and maintain the nutrients that our bodies need all come from nature so are our cures…it only makes sense…and Im with you on the intervention when appropriate. I do not think people should just assume because their doctor writes a script that that is going to be the best thing for them. I was caught in that trap and I knew the whole time I was poisoning myself and all knowing did was cause me more stress and more fibro flares and more of a ‘need’ for the medication. Horrible place to be caught up in for sure.

Hopefully, over time, people will become more interested in their own health to produce the quality of life they choose. I agree with you we are likely at the point of “maybe, if they’ve the time,” but that certainly doesn’t mean we’ve exhausted all avenues to help people understand the reality of what they face with this self limiting attitude. I will continue to share ideas from various perspectives to show that GOOD alternative approaches exist for those willing and wanting to listen.

It makes perfect sense to me. And I hope it is valid…I am a huge fan of saffron, but in small doses. βΊ

This is only one example. I hope the reader was able to see that natural treatments have science behind them offering viable options for health concerns. People need to see this as an optional FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE offering therapeutic value WITHOUT unwanted side effects.
Nothing works for EVERYONE. If these natural treatments do not sufficiently help the body restore health, pharmaceutical options are always available. The big question is, “why start with something that is toxic to the body if a NON TOXIC, LESS COSTLY OPTION is available. Naturally, in acute emergency type situations, pharmaceutical drugs can expedite the process necessary to stabilize a dangerous episode.

Thank you Lynne. May I suggest taking it one step further and looking into foods, spices, plants, etc… to LEARN ways to MAINTAIN QUALITY HEALTH rather than turning to natures garden when disease and dysfunction arises. So often we think about our health once it is compromised. If instead, we provide it with regular ongoing “maintenance” creating a better internal environment, the chances of disease and dysfunction are minimized while ADDING QUALITY TO OUR LIVES.

The price you pay for saffron is a BARGAIN if it helps to prevent macular degeneration and Alzheimer”s Disease! It all comes down to our perspectives on life.

Thank you so much. People are rarely exposed to much of this information. How are we to decide what is in our best interest if we’re only exposed to 1/2 the story?
