FAILING YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS!

success-consists-of-going-from-failure-to-failure-smallerFor so many of us, LIFE has taught us that FAILURE must be avoided AT ALL COST. Failure at work leads to demotions and firings;” failure in school leads to limited choices of colleges and careers, failure in relationships lead to “break ups,” separations and divorces. It appears that heart ache is the end result of FAILURE.

.

WHAT CAUSES RECURRING UNPRODUCTIVE FAILURE?

  • If we choose to IGNORE life and the lessons learned we are more prone to RECURRING UNPRODUCTIVE FAILURE.

  • If we choose to DEFY life and the lessons learned we are more prone to RECURRING UNPRODUCTIVE FAILURE.

  • If we choose to REPEAT FAILING PATTERNS in life and the lessons learned we are more prone to RECURRING UNPRODUCTIVE FAILURE.

THIS CREATES AN IMPRESSION THAT FAILURE IS THE “ENEMY!”

BUT, IS IT?!

Would you consider a person who declares bankruptcy a FINANCIAL FAILURE? You will notice the answer depends on the individual rather than the act of declaring bankruptcy itself. The person who follows a pattern of ongoing destructive irreversible debt culminating in declaring bankruptcy has FAILED and will likely continue to do so. The person that has intentionally”used the system” for company gain has FINANCIALLY SUCCEEDED (ex. Donald Trump.) Morally, this person may be reprehensible and despicable, but the act of declaring bankruptcy (in this case) can produce a FINANCIALLY beneficial outcome. FAILURE (defined as bankruptcy) is used for personal or company GAIN.  Although this example removes character and decency from the equation, it never the less shows how FAILURE can act as a stepping stone for SUCCESSFUL GAIN.

.

Now let’s look at some POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES, their association with “FAILURE,” and the road to SUCCESS they lead to.

  • PERSISTENCE: A person who is “knocked down” yet continues to “get up” OUT OF CHOICE rather than circumstances is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

  • COMMITMENT: A person who follows a path regardless of time, effort, or other sacrifices is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

  • IDEOLOGICAL BELIEFS: A person who experiences deep seated, unabating emotional ties to an idea or concept, is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

  • CHARACTER: A person who develops a strong sense of moral and ethical behavior is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

  • SELF IMPROVEMENT: A person who recognizes the benefits of ongoing self discovery and is willing to re-evaluate and revise one’s perception, is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

  • HONESTY: A person who recognizes this principle and is willing to accept responsibility by avoiding questionable short cuts and their consequences in favor of slower, more beneficial LONG TERM OUTCOMES, is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

  • SELF VALUE: A person that recognizes great value within themselves and is willing to share this value with OTHER PEOPLE to help them achieve greater personal gains is likely to overcome obstacles preventing growth and development necessary for SUCCESS.

We find these traits and other positive affirmations in people who have REPEATEDLY FAILED, but refused to accept FAILURE AS THE FINAL OUTCOME. We need to begin EMBRACING FAILURE and recognize its necessity for achieving challenging goals in life.

As we begin incorporating the 7 BULLET POINTS listed above into our CORE FOUNDATION it becomes easier to let go of our FEAR of FAILURE. Removing this massive obstacle gives each and every one of us the opportunity to:

FAIL OUR WAY TO SUCCESS!

  2. I shook my head yesterday at the different ideas I had stacked up, none of which took off. The key is to not keep bashing one’s head at the same wall. Rather, it is to test different walls until one’s strength, flexibility and wall testing skills becomes a marketable skill. Best of luck to you. xoxo

    1. This is also where patience, relaxation and the ability to temporarily walk away come in handy. Sometimes ideas that FAIL one day are part of a success story the next. As one begins experiencing frustration, it is time to find a positive channel to release this normal human emotion in a healthy manner. Clearing this often helps achieve desirable outcomes.
      Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Sometimes failure can be God’s way of telling you not to go down that road or open that door, we just have to be sensitive enough to know the way. I’ve had failures that as time progressed turned out to be a blessing, now knowing the the outcome!

    1. Failure (even if it leads to dead ends) provides lessons we can learn from and grow.

    1. Great point. It’s difficult to appreciate success if you’ve never experienced failure. For some, however, the fear of failure causes analysis paralysis!

  6. Sadly, it is all too common to EITHER set goals so modest as to preclude failure (thus also precluding nontrivial success) OR tout a failure as a “success” rather than learn from it.
