The $2,000,000.00 Cost To A Family To Save A Child From A Cancer Diagnosis

Courtroom Justice

Cancer is one of the most feared diagnoses anyone faces. This fear is exponentially compounded when a doctor informs a parent their child has this dreaded disease. We assume the health care system maintains the highest ethical and moral standards providing thorough evaluations and treatment recommendations based on their comprehensive evaluation practices. Have you ever considered WHY we base our trust in this system? Is there negligence in health care? Is there malpractice in health care? Is there corruption in health care?

Why do we believe this FOR PROFIT BUSINESS operates in a “STERILE” environment incapable of causing damage to an unknowing, poorly informed consumer? We believe this because our FEARS and our NEEDS to accept this paradigm are deeply rooted in our teachings and cultural approach to health. This fear helps to maintain our willingness to follow medical recommendations without giving these recommendations a second thought. This precedent has created a “DISEASE” within our system that can only be combated with public awareness and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking.

The following 6 minute video offers a side of reality few people EVER SEE. You will see a side of injustice and cruelty that exceeds any standard of acceptable behavior within the health care system.

The purpose of sharing this video is NOT to simply condemn health care professionals. Its purpose is to enlighten the public to realities that exist and help to understand the importance of THOROUGHLY researching ALL AVAILABLE OPTIONS (including traditional medical options) BEFORE deciding FOR YOURSELF any course of care to follow. In a country that preaches the right to FREEDOM and LIBERTIES, government and health care institutions do not have the right to impose emotional and financial devastation on families because alternative choices conflict with THEIR INTERESTS! This video IS NOT an isolated story. I have written about another example which you can read by clicking the RED LINK below. You can also see her 25 minute interview if you’d like to by watching the embedded video:

PRISON: The New Model For Health Care

  1. Wow…just wow! I’m at a loss for words.

I’m grateful for the example set by these parents.

  2. How often are these realities made (widely) available to the public? Trust does not come with the title “Doctor” and is absent from license granted. Trust MUST be EARNED with unyielding commitment to patient welfare. It is in our own best interest to remember we have CHOSEN to be SERVANTS to the public, not GODS.

  3. Sadly these are not the first cases I’ve heard of where children were forced to undergo chemo or had to flee the US to avoid it. Thanks for sharing parents need to be aware.

    1. Most people have never been exposed to these laws and become infuriated when they realize the government has the legal right to remove a minor from a parent’s control dictating health care treatments. What’s worse, news agencies often condemn PUBLICLY the parents decisions to support their children’s wishes.

  4. I really do not like to swear on the blogs (well, unless it’s Stephellaneous’s blog because she’s just plum crazy 🙂 ) but on this occasion there has to be an exception. Holy fu$*ing sh1t! This is absolutely appalling. Claiming a child has cancer just to get them on a trial? The medical professionals and the the legal individuals should all be struck off.
    I am sickened….

    1. As I’m sure you know, the purpose of my posts is to create AWARENESS. As a doctor, it would be unethical to exclude my profession from the challenges it faces offering viable health care options. Doctors are BUSINESSMEN in white coats. They are as susceptable to improper behavior as ANY OTHER PERSON under certain circumstances. Showing this reality is NOT intended to turn people away from doctors, but rather to get people MORE INVOLVED in the decision making process by using their doctors as a source of information rather than “THE ANSWER” to ALL their health concerns. The better informed the patient, the better the choices they typically make. In most cases, there are MULTIPLE approaches to health concerns just like there are MULTIPLE approaches to successful investing. Just because a doctor provides 1 solution, doesn’t mean it fits the patient’s needs or provides the best choice for the problem. As patients and doctors begin forming a TEAM approach, both participants benefit. Truly understanding the VARIOUS solutions gives the patient a REAL SELECTION to choose from. This is my purpose for writing my posts. As people begin recognizing their roles in their own health plans, a healthier nation WILL DEVELOP.

  5. I had no idea this could happen. Thanks for sharing. I salute the courage of these families to fight. I’d have left the country with my children.

  7. We must realize this is NOT an isolated case. If you have a chance, watch the Cassandra You Tube video. It is worth the 25 minutes if you can spare it. People do not realize how much power and influence the health care system maintains over the public. Regardless of personal views on subjects like vaccinations, most people are UNAWAREthat efforts are being made to mandate that BOTH CHILDREN and ADULTS be vaccinated from BIRTH to DEATH. I am yet to find an adult that believes our country would be a safer place to live if adults (between 18-death) received an additional 60-72 vaccinations. This is what is circulating around congress as I write this response. Commercials on TV using FEAR to motivate our population to perform medical treatments without independent efficacy behind the treatments.
I write my posts with the intention of creating awareness so people can make the best informed decisions for THEMSELVES. I am NOT trying to tell people what they “should do.” If they only receive one choice, however, how can they truly decide what is in their best interest?

  8. It is one thing if a child is obviously ill and the parents insist on relying on nothing beyond prayer. The utterly despicable coercion of the Jensen family is quite another thing. A “diagnosis” when there are no symptoms and the pertinent tests come out negative is flagrant malpractice.

  9. Apparently the courts disagree your opinion at a cost of 2 million dollars to the family. How perverse is this? Where are the masses supporting the family? Where is the ongoing media barrage for public awareness? How do we live with these heinous acts and claim to be “the greatest country in the world?

FEAR dictates responses. The greatest country in the world does not maintain its status by eliciting FEAR to attain and maintain control. Awareness and PARTICIPATION in a process that promotes unbiased policy decisions and ENFORCES these outcomes offers a pathway that potentially leads to becoming the greatest country in the world.

    1. The purpose of my blog site is to create AWARENESS so people will assume greater responsibility in the decision making process of their health. Most rely on their primary doctors (which should be a source used in the process,) but not exclusively, since the solutions will ALWAYS come from ONE PERSPECTIVE. Making the best PERSONAL informed decision requires knowing the VARIOUS approaches and options to customize a treatment plan for each individual.

  11. I didn’t look at the second story, but “WOW!” to the Jensen story. It seems very weird that no other doctors found any cancer yet the one that did was allowed to pursue this whole thing.

    1. The purpose of my blog is NOT to demonize the medical profession or the pharmaceutical industry, but rather to share realities of health care. The consumer must realize responsibility for their health by using all sources available to make the best informed decisions. Listening to a family physician or intern should be ONE source of many. There are MANY choices to health problems that provide better solutions to different individuals. The object is to find the best fit to achieve the best results. The pharmaceutical approach is the ONLY one a traditional allopath knows. It’s not his or her fault; it is simply a limitation conventional medical education’s provide. AWARENESS is crucial if people are going to pursue the BEST CHOICES available. I try to reveal biases by using conventional resources supporting traditional medicine to expose inconsistencies and outright fallacies. Those choosing to participate in their own health decision making will benefit from the information I share.

Wow…such an awful tale. I won’t say I completely mistrust the medical system — if I have an emergency, I go to the doctor — but damned sure I do my best to prevent illness, and this motivates me to do even more. I remember in college, meeting a lot of students that wanted to become doctors for all the wrong reasons: make lots of money, prestige and respect, or the cliche “I want to help people.” Now they are doctors and lo and behold, medical malpractice is the third leading cause of accidental death in America. I won’t blame this on my colleagues solely, but my generation makes a lot of choices based on the pursuit of riches, and America suffers for it.

    1. Our medical system is designed to offer some of the BEST emergency care in the world. This is the allopath’s forte. Their weakness is found in chronic disease care and preventative care. From this weakness has grown a new approach to health called Functional Medicine. Chiropractors, Naturopaths and Medical doctors are studying and becoming certified in this approach to HEALTH care. It treats the body in it’s entirety by using a comprehensive holistic approach to addressing IMBALANCES rather than simply focusing on the “disease.”
As far as your college associates are concerned, becoming a doctor out of insecurity or the potential to possess a “wealth” of material possessions will result in lives missing some of the most essential emotions that create fulfillment. They will miss out on passion and happiness. There lives will be void of “meaningful” purpose and their abilities to grow and develop over time impeded. I once saw a quote that sums it up, “I once new a man that was so POOR, the ONLY thing he had was MONEY!”

Lol, love that quote! And as you say — the healthcare industry is a business after all. They make more money treating cancer than curing it. But I’m glad to hear that there are new approaches to healthcare that are appearing. This is something we NEED to evolve our thinking on as a society if we are to progress.
