SIMPLIFYING LIFE & HEALTH

MailAttachmentThe human body is an amazingly complex structure originating from one cell that underwent division. From this ongoing process, a life was created. In most cases, this process repeats itself perfectly trillions of times. Healthcare professionals understand about 5% of the processes the body is capable of achieving. Each individual only uses about 10% of the brain’s capabilities.

Truly understanding all the potential the human body and mind is capable of producing would require an infinite amount of time. I am in awe and inspired everyday as I learn new things about life, health and people and the skills needed to transform every day living into a meaningful purposeful life.

Over the years, I have learned that the complexities of life have caused a great deal of confusion interfering with one’s ability to make informed decisions. By travelling down the labyrinth of detail after detail, progress in both thought and action became impossible for the average person. It became easier to do nothing, thus, maintaining a lifestyle that society chose for us rather than seeking our own individual conclusions. For many, this is life as they know it today.

We are living in times surrounded by activities we need to protect ourselves from both physically and emotionally. Random destructive behavior in the cities, terrorism around the world, elected officials more concerned about re-elections than the people they are supposed to represent, potential dangers of food sources, potential surrendering of personal liberties… and the list goes on.

Following this path is destructive and removes all the wonderful opportunities available to most of us. One solution to this problem is simplifying our lives. Although there are various components to our lives, I will focus on simplifying our health.

  1. RELAX: With so many people currently on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications, we need to learn to relax. Some considerations may include music, reading, yoga or meditation. The object is to find some activity that blocks the rest of the world from your thoughts so that you may experience your own “feelings” in a safe and friendly environment.

  2. ENJOY: Experience the joy of people, activities, nature or anything else that’s meaningful to your life. It doesn’t require a lot of time, but the satisfaction achieved with the experience can last a lifetime.

  3. VALUE YOURSELF: Everyone alive offers a value to this planet. Where does your value fit in to the equation? What contributions do you make (first) to yourself and (secondly) to your family, friends or society as a whole? Self value creates a better sense of self worth. As a person feels greater self value, their confidence and abilities increase while their stress levels decrease.

  4. LIVE: If our hearts and minds function, it means we exist; we are entities in life. This is NOT the same as LIVING. To LIVE means to create sensory stimulation. As we become more aware, we can feel, taste, touch, smell and see life from a new and more meaningful perspective. There is no judgement about (right and wrong) sensory experiences. There is only the opportunity to let your untapped potential experience life and its limitless beauty.

  5. SMILE: As the quote reads, “Life isn’t always full of reasons to smile, but your smile itself is a reason for others to smile too. Imagine the affect it would have on all of us if we knew each day our smile was responsible for a small amount of joy another person would experience.

These five steps are designed to enhance one’s health by simplifying the complexities of today’s current trends. By making these small changes, various health problems can dramatically show improvement. In effect, simplicity can make the complexities of the human body and mind more efficient creating a healthier outcome and improving the quality of life.

What SIMPLE changes can you make in your life to enhance your quality of living?

Yes, Simple Living does have significant effects on your health. Stress is probably the number one reason why our bodies break down as it leads to so much destructive behaviors.

  4. In meeting with a group of like minded folks yesterday, we talked about the impact a smile can make on the world. When we embrace joy and project the same in the world, others notice. A smile costs us little, but has the potential to benefit us and our community greatly. Everybody feels better wearing a smile, and they look better, too. Forget the top hat and tails. Give me a smile every time!

I agree that simple living frees the mind of clutter and helps you enjoy the greater things life has to offer. Life is too short and we shouldn’t allow stress to take over our lives. Smiling is truly the best way to relieve stress. Smiles can be contagious too!
